Formerly Feral Friday

My name is Rocky, and I'm a former feral. But I kicked the habit pretty quickly in 1999 when I came to live with my furrever mom Sharolyn when I was only one day old. Here I am in my mom's hands when I was just a few days old:
I was rescued from beside Raccoon Lake in Indiana after a raccoon sent my feral cat mother and littermates over the Rainbow Bridge. My beanmom Sharolyn didn't think I'd live because I was so young, but I showed 'em! Of course, it probably helped that she bottle fed me every 3 hours 24/7 then burped me and rubbed my belly so I'd go potty in a paper towel.
And here I am today, the CEO (Cat Executive Officer) of Artsy Catsy. See, even former ferals can grow up and be somebody! But as this photo illustrates, I still believe that mom's hands are for holding and feeding me and not for anything else! Well, that paper towel business I can do without. (And keep it quiet, but I still like to hit the bottle every now and then.)

  5. That's an amazing story, Rocky. You grew up into a really great cat. A Mom's hands are for petting and feeding the kitty, first and foremost.

  11. Yep Max, I was just a pink little worm. And hey, nobody makes the Rockster do anything I don't wanna - I was already da boss of everything, so the CEO thing was no big deal.

You know how it is, being an author and all. People screw things up if you don't give them constant direction!

  16. Yup, O'Jete, I got KMR from a bottle almost bigger than I was! And just for old times' sake, my mom still gets out a bottle for me every now and then, and I go crazy! My pupils dilate, I drool, I quiver ... but my big mancat teeth kinda make a mess of it.

  24. i love the pictures of you and the artsy catsy crew. you all look well-loved.

i'm glad your mama was there to give you such good care.

you ask how i stay so youthful. part of it is being small. at my heaviest, i was 7 pounds. i've always been active, and still like to run and jump, although i have slowed down and sleep more now.

other things that have helped: the total devotion of my mama, a loving brother (benjamin the first), a sassy younger brother (benjamin the second...he was already named that when mama rescued him), and lots of water.

    and genetics.
