Yesterday both our artists attended the champagne reception at Swope Art Museum for the unveiling of the all the colts. Here they are with Suzanne's colt, titled "Scrubs":

Well, all this horsing around has given me an idea! Cowpainters, the company that manufactures the fiberglass colts, also makes cats! ...
So .... I think when we launch our web site, we should have a similar promotion to raise awareness of the serious stray/feral cat problem in our city and donate the funds to the organizations who are helping to address it! What do you think?
I think it's a fantastic idea! I think it should be nationwide too! I bet even us cat bloggers who don't have a lot of artistic talent would be willing to paint and find places to promote them!

ReplyDeleteI think it is a great idea to paint the cats! I think people are becoming more and more aware of the growing feral & overpopulation problem and with cats being the most popular pet, a ton of people would love to buy these figures.
PS perhaps your local shelters would like to be involved by having cats in their shelter "sign" the, um, tushies, of some of the cats with a paw print (you could attach a photo of the kitty with the figure) and maybe some would even get adopted that way. Does that make sense? My typist has a headache so she isn't sure she is being clear with my idea.

A beautiful job with the colt! My human's sister would love this; she's got horses and cats and dogs, too. And the cat-painting idea is just perfect.

Ohh, your Mum is so clever. Her horse is so cool, as are all the other ones. What a great idea. Our Mum says she wants one for our house..and a bunch of those cats too *hehe*

ReplyDeleteCats cats CATS! We vote fer cats! We has an annual event in Santa Rosa each year where da artists paint characters from da Charlie Brown cartoon (cuz Charles Shultz lived here). This year was Snoopy (a dawg)! Tomorrow we will show off some of them so come see!
